How Safe is Your Luggage?
To lock or not to lock. A perennial debate on cruise forums (I lock, and use SearchAlert locks from Magellans), and it is a personal choice. Several people report their locks are routinely cut off. I've never had one cut in about 250,000 miles travelled since TSA locks with opened indicators have been on the market.
However, my home airport, Denver, is one of the safest in the nation according to a recent report by ABC News 20/20. That may have something to do with it, though with the miles I've flown, I think some of that would have been negated.
Regardless, the report was excellent and can be found here: 20/20 - Luggage. If you'd like to check to see how your airport ranks so you can put that into your evaluation of whether or not to lock or just use zip ties, the rankings are here: 20/20 Airport Rankings.
